Arson possibly to blame for early morning fire in Palm Coast

Burglary also suspected

PALM COAST, Fla. – A fire at a duplex early Friday morning is being investigated as a potential arson, according to the Flagler County Sheriff's Office.

The tenant in portion "A" of the duplex at 164 Fenimore Lane called officials after hearing noises from the roof and attic area. When deputies arrived, they saw smoke coming from portion "B" of the duplex and called firefighters to extinguish the flames.

Officials determined that the fire started in portion "B" of the duplex, but a firewall between the two apartments kept it from spreading to unit "A." Minimal fire damage and significant smoke damage was reported in unit "B."

No one was hurt during the fire. 

Deputies said they are investigating the incident as a burglary and potential arson.
