Construction begins on two new UCF sorority houses

Buildings will house Kappa Kappa Gamma, Chi Omega

ORLANDO, Fla. – Major construction is underway along the University of Central Florida's Greek Park. This multi-million dollar project will provide two new sorority houses and a Greek life center.

According to UCF spokesperson Chad Binette, each house will be about 12,000 square feet and will house 40 students each. Binette says this expansion shows the school's commitment to Greek life.

"The leadership for a lot of our organizations on campus come from Greek organizations, so the leadership development benefits all students and the philanthropic work benefits our entire community."

UCF's Greek community consists of 46 fraternities and sororities, with 11 currently located on campus. The buildings under construction will house members of Kappa Kappa Gamma and Chi Omega. Binette says those organizations were selected based on an application and presentation process.

Students will pay a room rental rate, similar to those living in residence halls. Each facility will be staffed with Graduate Assistant House Directors.

Binette says construction is expected to be finished in the fall of 2013.
