Deputies arrest 2 in Kissimmee hotel shooting

Shooting victim, 26, in stable condition

KISSIMMEE, Fla. – Deputies arrested a man and a woman they said were involved in a shooting Saturday at Kissimmee hotel.

A 26-year-old man was found at the Rodeway Inn on Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway with gunshot wounds, deputies said. The victim was taken to a nearby hospital and is in stable condition.

Deputies learned that the shooting happened during an altercation in the stairwell of the hotel between the victim and Smith Thomas, 41, and another guest of the hotel, according to the report.

Thomas was arrested on attempted murder and child neglect charges. His girlfriend, Rhonda Wilson, 41, was also charged with child neglect. Deputies said she had an 8-month-old child with her at the time of the shooting.
