Missing former Marion fire lieutenant found dead

DIXIE COUNTY, Fla. – A former lieutenant for Marion County Fire Rescue missing out of Dixie County was found dead, according to Dixie County Fire Rescue.

A Florida Purple Alert was issued for Andrew English, 55, who had been missing since Saturday, May 18. He last seen in the area of the 30 block of NE 605th Street in Old Town, according to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.

The Dixie County Fire Rescue said on Monday that English was found dead in Dixie County.

“We are devastated by this news and ask for continued prayers for the family, colleagues, and every individual that has played a part in his life. Chief English brought a wealth of knowledge, passion, and unwavering dedication to the fire service during a long career,” the fire rescue wrote on Facebook.

Details of where he was found or how he died have not been released.
