ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. – Two people have been arrested after two 5-year-old children were found locked inside a shed in Florida, according to authorities.

Alachua County deputies were called by a couple of witnesses who found the children inside the shed, where the children were locked inside with a brick in front of the door “to prevent them from leaving,” the sheriff’s office said in a social media post.

Sabine Thrift, 59, and Tamara Stoiber, 37, were identified by witnesses, deputies said.

“Based on initial findings, Stoiber had reportedly left the children in Thrift’s care. However, Thrift allegedly refused to supervise them. Stoiber claimed she had only stepped away for a quick errand, but was gone for several hours‚” the sheriff’s office said.
