The restrictions fall under President Donald Trump’s initiative to encourage healthy eating and improve lifestyle habits.
“In Florida, we are ensuring SNAP supports nutritious options that help families thrive, not unhealthy products that lead to long-term health problems,” Gov. Ron DeSantis said.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture signed the waiver on Monday, approving the changes.
While the restrictions vary from state to state, SNAP recipients are already prohibited from purchasing alcohol, tobacco, hot and prepared food and personal care products.
