BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. – What started out as a routine ride for an Uber driver turned into a violent encounter.
The lone passenger in the backseat had just been picked up, and moments later, without warning, he suddenly attacked the 61-year-old driver, News 6 partner WPLG reported.
Dash camera video captured the driver being pummeled from behind before he managed to bring the car to a stop on the shoulder of the I-95 express lanes in southern Broward County.
The trip was supposed to go from Deerfield Beach to Miami International Airport but instead, that passenger landed in jail.

He has since been identified as 19-year-old Isaiah Norton, who was arrested on charges of battery causing bodily harm and obstructing an officer.
On the dashcam video, the struggle between Norton and the driver appeared to go on for several minutes.
Once outside of the car, passersby stepped in to help, including an armed off duty officer who, according to the victim’s family, was able to subdue the teen until Florida Highway Patrol troopers arrived.
The victim, identified as Reuben Caraino, was left bruised and bloody with serious injuries across his face.
Doctors checked him out at the hospital, and his family says he’s lucky to be alive after the violent encounter.
At last check, Norton was being held at the Joseph V. Conte Facility in Pompano Beach.
