2 shot to death near DeLand party

Third victim injured in shooting on Valleydale Avenue

DeLAND, Fla. – Two people were shot to death and another was injured Saturday night after a vehicle dispute near a large party in DeLand, according to police.

The incident began around 7:30 p.m. in the 800 block of Valleydale Avenue when 27-year-old Clayton Lowrey's Buick Regal was struck by another vehicle, police said. An argument began and gunfire was exchanged, according to police.

Lowrey was pronounced dead at the scene.

Victor Small, 41, and Sam Parker III, 28, were attending a nearby party and were struck in the crossfire, police said.

Small died in a hospital. Parker is expected to fully recover from a gunshot wound to the leg, according to the a release.

Party attendees fled the scene when gunfire erupted. Investigators are working to track down anyone who might have witnessed the shooting.

An investigation is continuing.
