ORMOND BEACH – A 26-year-old woman died in an accidental shooting in Ormond Beach early Saturday morning, according to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office.

The victim was found at her home on Fairland Road just before 3 a.m. with a gunshot wound to the upper body, and later died at Halifax Health Medical Center, according to deputies.

She was identified Monday as Ashleigh Murphy.

The shooter was the one who called 911 and has been cooperating with authorities, records show. His or her name has not been released.

The investigation is ongoing.
