“Today’s verdict sends a clear message that acts of violence will not be tolerated,” attorney William Gladson said. “Anciaux will spend the rest of his life behind bars, an appropriate sentence that reflects the severity of this heinous crime.”

According to the SAO, Anciaux previously pleaded guilty and was sentenced to prison on a charge of failing to register as a sexual offender in Florida.

The deadly attack happened in November 2020 at the Stage Stop Inn along Silver Springs Boulevard.

Chad Anciaux, 36, had chased his girlfriend out of a hotel room and struck her nearly 20 times with a metal baseball bat on the sidewalk, records show.

The victim was hospitalized and later succumbed to her injuries. Investigators said Anciaux was eventually taken into custody despite resisting during the arrest.
