Average price now $3.08 a gallon

ORLANDO, Fla. – Florida gas prices have dropped eight cents, which is now the lowest daily average since the end of December, according to AAA.

The average price per gallon in Florida is now $3.08.

“Florida gas prices continue bouncing above and below $3 a gallon,” AAA spokesman Mark Jenkins said in a statement. “This week, prices are below $3 in various cities throughout the state. Only time will tell if that trend continues.”

Tuesday morning, for example, gas was $2.92 per gallon at a gas station in Oviedo.

As of Friday, the price of oil was $72.68 per barrel.

Regional Prices

  • Most expensive metro markets – West Palm Beach-Boca Raton ($3.29), Naples ($3.18), Port St. Lucie ($3.17)

Ways to Save on Gasoline

  • Combine errands to limit driving time.
  • Shop around for the best gas prices in your community.
  • Pay with cash. Some retailers charge extra per gallon for customers who pay with a credit card.
  • Remove excess weight in your vehicle. Every 100 pounds taken out of the vehicle improves fuel economy by 1-2 percent.
  • Drive conservatively. Aggressive acceleration and speeding reduces fuel economy.
