Stench, smoke from 2 prescribed burns enveloping parts of Seminole County

Winds are sending smoke into Winter Springs, Chulouta and Altamonte Springs

SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. – People living in parts of Seminole County may be experiencing some smoky conditions due to two prescribed burns.

The first prescribed burn is on 134 acres at Little Big Econ in Seminole County with smoke reported in the area near Snow Hill Road, according to Seminole County Fire Department.

The second is a 3,000-acre prescribed burn happening in the area of State Road 46 and Hatbill Road in Volusia County, officials said.

Winds are sending smoke from the fire toward Seminole County, affecting areas such as Winter Springs, Chulouta and Altamonte Springs, among others.

People experiencing haze are advised to not call 911 unless they see flames or large columns of smoke, the fire department said in a social media post.
