ORMOND BEACH, Fla. – News 6 is taking our newscasts back on the road in 2025, and we are kicking things off in Ormond Beach .
The coastal community, known as the birthplace of speed, has a diverse history dating back several centuries. According to the Ormond Beach Historical Society , the area was populated by Native Americans and developed by sugar cane planters, ship builders and more. It was also the site of the first timed automobile race in 1903.
