ORLANDO, Fla. – A Frontier flight from Orlando made a harrowing landing last week in Puerto Rico when the aircraft carrying 228 passengers made a hard landing, causing a wheel to break off, according to published reports.

Frontier Flight 5306 briefly touched down Tuesday at Luis Munoz Marin International Airport before quickly climbing back into the air.

The Airbus A321 had suffered a “mechanical problem” that resulted in one of the wheels breaking off the front landing gear, Puerto Rican newspaper El Nuevo Dia reported.

The plane circled the airport four times before landing on a different runway, according to the flight radar site FlightAware.

“We are alive by miracle! We just landed in the worst way in the world. What a horrible experience. For a few minutes I thought it was the end of our story here on Earth,” a passenger posted on Facebook.

No one was injured.
