The man told police that the woman, later identified as 41-year-old Alexis Rosati, pulled a badge out of her pocket that “said something similar to ‘Bellevue’ Police” before identifying herself as a police officer.
According to the affidavit, the man began video recording the woman where she stated the was on duty working in Port Orange.
The victim said he asked Rosati to write him a ticket if he was in violation for parking his car in the spot marked for law enforcement, but advised she said that she already wrote him the “warning.”
Port Orange police said that after watching the video, they were able to determine that Rosati was not an officer with their department.
According to the affidavit, police discovered the name written on the fake warning belonged to a man who Rosati was a caretaker for.
After speaking with Rosati, she told police that the man she was a caretaker for was a retired police officer.
Police said the man was suffering from “severe mental decline” and was unaware that Rosati had his badge.
According to the affidavit, after interviewing the victim and watching surveillance video from the scene, they arrested Rosati at her home on Friday.
Police said Rosati faces charges of obstructing justice/false personation of a law enforcement officer and unlawful use of badges of authority.
She was taken to the Volusia County jail and with a $3,000 bail.
