He accepted a plea deal on April 15 for second-degree murder and got sentenced to 35 years.

Ortiz was found in the driveway of her home with a gunshot wound to the head.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office said Alexandre had shot Ortiz “over his belief that she had stolen drugs from him.”

Deputies said Alexandre had fled to New York after the fatal shooting.
