FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. – A man arrested last week in Flagler County is accused of drug trafficking after the sheriff’s office said it found marijuana, cocaine, methamphetamine and more in his home.

Leonard Fries Jr., 49, of Ormond Beach, faces charges of “armed trafficking of cocaine; possession of marijuana with intent to sell, manufacture, or deliver; possession of methamphetamine with intent to sell, manufacture, or deliver; possession of cathinones with intent to sell, manufacture, or deliver; possession of hashish with intent to sell, manufacture, or deliver; resisting arrest without violence; and two counts of manufacture or delivery of narcotics cultivation paraphernalia,” the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

A search warrant served Friday at Fries’ Ormond-Beach-area home along Winchester Road was described as the culmination of an undercover five-month operation, the release states.

According to a charging affidavit, law enforcement descended on the home around 6 a.m. and reported that Fries allegedly tried to run out of a rear door while a SWAT team announced its presence. Fries was caught and cooperated, the affidavit states, adding the ensuing search of his property turned up the following:

  • Approximately 700 grams of marijuana
  • 76.6 grams of cocaine
  • 415 grams of “hashish,” described as “gummies combined with THC wax weights”
  • 2.8 grams of methamphetamine
  • 8.8 grams of synthetic cathinones
  • A “narcotics press machine” and multiple other “instrumentalities of narcotics sales” such as vacuum-sealed bags, cash, scales, packaging materials and a “marijuana cultivation set” in a storage room

The Daytona Beach News-Journal reported that Fries is the owner of Lenny’s Pizza and cites Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly’s alleged claim that buyers — some of them undercover Flagler County Sheriff’s Office detectives — would purchase drugs from Fries at his home.

Given a $145,500 bond amount, Fries has since posted bail and was released Saturday, records show.

This is a developing story and may be updated.
