Parks, whom the police department described as a landscaper for Grandview Landscaping Services, was with a co-worker near the tree before it fell, according to the statement.

Both of them ran from the tree when they heard it begin to crack, the co-worker in one direction and Parks in another, “ultimately placing (Parks) in the path of the falling tree,” police said.

Our hearts go out to the victim’s family and loved ones during this difficult time.
