FORT MCCOY, Fla. – A family and their pets are safe after a mobile home fire in Marion County.

Around 5 a.m. Wednesday, Marion County Fire Rescue crews responded to the 14000 block of NE 188th Place in Fort McCoy after a 911 caller reported that their attached garage was on fire with animals inside, according to a social media post.

When crews arrived, they found flames extending to the exterior of the mobile home. Firefighters quickly extinguished the garage fire to prevent further damage to the mobile home.

Crews conducted primary and secondary searches of the structure, confirming that the residents had successfully evacuated and removed their cats from the home. Firefighters say their pigs were found unharmed in their pen.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
