FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – A little girl aboard a Disney Cruise Line ship fell overboard Sunday and her father jumped into the water to save her before both were rescued by crew members, according to published reports.
The incident happened Sunday as the Disney Dream was returning to Fort Lauderdale from a four-night sailing to The Bahamas.
“The Crew aboard the Disney Dream swiftly rescued two guests from the water,” a Disney Cruise Line spokesperson told USA Today in a statement. “We commend our Crew Members for their exceptional skills and prompt actions, which ensured the safe return of both guests to the ship within minutes. We are committed to the safety and well-being of our guests, and this incident highlights the effectiveness of our safety protocols.”
Cruise ship guests took to social media to post about the dramatic rescue as it unfolded, saying the ship was cruising between The Bahamas and Florida when the child fell from Deck 4 and her father jumped in immediately to rescue her.
“Thankfully the (cruise ship) rescue team was on it immediately and both were saved!” a Facebook user said.
