NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. – A man surfing in New Smyrna Beach on Friday said an airborne shark knocked him off his board.

Darren Kaye shared footage to social media showing what he said was a spinner shark jumping out of the water and hitting him in the face.

“(The shark) came out of nowhere and hit me like a truck. His nose slammed me right in the face, his pectoral fin bruised my left bicep and got slammed right off my lost ‘96 RNF redux,” Kaye said in an Instagram post.
