Marion County receives state funding for infrastructure improvements, water project

County receives more than $3M from state’s 2025-26 budget

MARION COUNTY, Fla. – The Florida Fiscal Year 2025-26 Budget, signed by Gov. Ron DeSantis on Monday, allocated over $3 million to Marion County to address its infrastructure and clean water project, officials said.

A news release issued by the county announced that $2 million was allocated to roadway improvements on NW 49th Street, $1 million to the Lowell Municipal Drinking Water Project and $237,500 to cover the Bradford – Ma Barker House improvements.

Officials said the Bradford – Ma Barker House improvements aim to restore the historic landmark and offer visitor-friendly enhancements.

The Lowell Municipal Drinking Water Project is set out to secure clean and reliable water for thousands of residents in Lowell, the release stated, while the roadway improvements on NW 49th street will involve critical resurfacing, safety enhancements and capacity upgrades to address traffic.

“We’re grateful for the legislature and governor’s continued support in turning our priorities into tangible improvements to our community,” Chairman Kathy Bryant said in a statement.
