“It’s time to turn the page and start a new chapter. It has been a great honor to cover news for our community for over 14 years with the News 6 team. I appreciate our viewers for allowing me to tell their stories and share some of my own along the way. Their love, trust, and support have been driving forces for my dedication. I am forever grateful for the opportunity and will cherish many memories from this time with my friends and colleagues at News 6. I’m looking forward to opportunities to grow and see what God has on my next assignment. I’ll keep you posted online about the new paths on my journey.”

Ellison anchored the market-leading News 6 at Noon as well as News 6+, the station’s livestream for digital and Smart TVs, while also reporting on a local medical beat.

Prior to that, she was a long-time co-anchor on News 6 Mornings and contributed to community-based reporting efforts that included such franchises as Making a Difference, Something Good, Getting Results in Our Schools, and Getting Results for Your Health. In 2024, her digital-only program “Breakfast with Bridgett” -- which focused on live interviews, community highlights, and morning news updates -- earned a regional Edward R. Murrow Award for “Excellence in Innovation.”

“Bridgett Ellison has contributed a tremendous amount of time and care to News 6 and our shared connections to our community,” said Autumn Jones, News Director for News 6. “Bridgett, and others like her, do a lot for our viewers, even as the broadcast television industry is changing and transforming all the time.”

Ellison’s career as an anchor, journalist, and storyteller also includes stops at local television stations in Augusta, GA; Columbia, SC; and New Bern, NC. While in Augusta, she was honored by the Georgia Associated Press for Best Documentary and Best Anchor/Reporter.

Her last day on the air for News 6 is July 2, 2025.
