MARION COUNTY, Fla. – Marion County firefighters saved 12 dogs while responding to a burning mobile home Friday night near Fort McCoy, according to the fire department.

Units were dispatched around 6:35 p.m. to the 11000 block of NE 230th Street, where a 911 caller had reported they could see flames coming out of a mobile home, the Marion County Fire Department said on social media.

Firefighters arrived to find a double-wide mobile home that was fully involved in flames, the post states.

Adjacent to the mobile home were a camper and dog kennels around which firefighters deployed multiple hose lines to protect the dogs inside, according to the fire department.

The fire was called under control before 10 p.m. and while its cause and origin remain under investigation, no injuries to firefighters or civilians were reported.

Additional firefighters from Citra Station #2, Orange Lake Station #9, Sparr Station #19 and Orange Springs Volunteer Station #13 arrived on scene to assist protecting the animals and property. Firefighters were able to save 12 dogs.
