MARION COUNTY, Fla. – A man fired a flare gun toward a Marion County sheriff’s vehicle Tuesday while a deputy was checking on him, according to officials.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Office shared video of the incident, which happened around 4:20 a.m. on Highway 19.
According to the sheriff’s office, the deputy stopped to see if Jacob Caldwell was OK.

Caldwell then used a flare gun to fire toward the deputy’s vehicle, video shows, before walking away. Caldwell refused to stop, despite the deputy commanding him to get on the ground, the body-cam video shows.
“He just shot a flare gun at me,” the deputy said on his radio.
”Caldwell continued with odd behavior by removing his pants, throwing money at Deputy Mingus and refusing to comply," the sheriff’s office said.
Caldwell was arrested after the deputy twice deployed his Taser, officials said.
Caldwell faces multiple charges, including aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer.
