LEESBURG, Fla. – The Florida Governmental Utility Authority (FGUA) has issued a precautionary boil water notice for 473 customers in the Western Shores system in Leesburg.
The notice follows a 2-inch water main break on Tuesday at 34008 Hodges Road.

Water service was restored just after midnight on Wednesday, but the boil water advisory remains in effect as a safety precaution.
Affected streets include:
- Patterson Street
- Oak Avenue
- Pine Street
- Laralack Avenue
- Lakeland Avenue
- South Haines Creek Road
- Lakeview Drive
- Huggins Street
- Layton Street
- Ocklawaha Drive
- Pierce Avenue
- Western Shores Lane
- Island Drive
- Carl Road
- Hodges Road
- Clara Drive
- Lake Pines
- Linda Lane
- Howe Street
The advisory will be lifted once water samples test safe at a Florida Department of Health-certified laboratory, which is expected within two to three days.
FGUA urges customers to follow CDC guidelines by boiling water for one minute before cooking or drinking. Bottled water is also recommended as an alternative.
Customers were notified via Reverse 911 text messages and voice recordings. The FGUA has posted updates on its Outages and Notices page.
The utility apologizes for any inconvenience caused by the delay in notifying customers about the resolution.
