DELAND, Fla. – A man was killed Friday and an arrest has been made in a shooting at an apartment complex in DeLand, according to deputies.
The shooting happened around 11:22 a.m. on Botts Landing Road.
Juan Antonio Huertas Figueroa, 57, was arrested in the shooting, the sheriff’s office said Saturday on social media.
The victim was identified as 42-year-old Christopher Alan Wooldridge, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to investigators, Huertas Figueroa and his girlfriend — who live together in one of the apartments — had a fight on Thursday which was not reported. The girlfriend on Friday contacted Wooldridge, her ex-boyfriend, to pick her up from the residence, deputies said. Huertas Figueroa then shot Wooldridge multiple times after twice confronting him and telling him to leave, the sheriff’s office said.
Huertas Figueroa faces a first-degree murder charge.
An investigation is underway and Huertas Figueroa is being held on no bond.
