Flagler Beach firefighters commended for teamwork

FLAGLER BEACH, Fla. – It’s a dog! It’s a coyote! No, it’s a fox!

Flagler Beach firefighters found their hands full of fur Tuesday night while responding to what was first thought to be a puppy in need of rescuing, trapped deep in a drain pipe.

They worked through the night, calling in their technical rescue team to help free the animal due to the complexity of the incident, the Flagler Beach Fire Department said on social media.

When the firefighters completed the rescue, they learned it wasn’t for a dog at all.

After initially reporting it was a coyote, the fire department updated its post to state the rescued rascal is, in fact, a fox.

“The teamwork displayed during this incident reflects the strong cooperation between our agencies and our commitment to protecting both people and animals in our community,” Flagler Beach fire Chief Cox said in a statement.

The fox is now with animal control, where it will receive appropriate care and treatment, the post states.
