PORT ORANGE, Fla. – A man was sent to the hospital after being shot by Port Orange police on Monday, according to a news release.
Police said the shooting happened near Chamale Lane and Kerry Court after officers responded to a “suicidal individual at a residence.”
Officials did not say what circumstances led to the shooting, however.
The victim, only identified as an adult male, was taken to a hospital for treatment. No information on the victim’s condition was given.
No officers were injured, according to the release.
“No further information on the male subject at this time, pending further investigation and family notification,” police said in their release.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) has been notified and is conducting the independent investigation into the incident, officials said.
