VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. – A 24-year-old Volusia County man was arrested Sunday evening after breaking into his ex-girlfriend’s home and stealing a cellphone, according to sheriff’s officials.

The Volusia Sheriff’s Office said Jerron Singletary broke into his ex-girlfriend’s home in Deltona through a window when the woman, along with her friend and sister, began fighting him off.

In body camera video released Monday on social media, deputies said the woman and her friend were in a bedroom when they heard Singletary break in through the window. Deputies said Singletary punched the friend repeatedly.

“During the fight, Jerron pulled a gun and threatened them with it. He fired a shot into the ceiling, stole a cellphone, and then fled through the window,” the sheriff’s office said in a social media post.

Deputies responding to the break-in spotted Singletary driving off, but they were able to track him using the stolen phone. Deputies along with a K-9 tracked him to a home on Cassadaga Road, where deputies found the abandoned vehicle and later found Singletary hiding under an RV.

Video showed the K-9 searching around the property before a deputy is heard yelling in the background, “Hey, show me your hands!”

The deputies then instructed Singletary to crawl out from under the RV.

Singletary was taken into custody, with the help of Lake Helen police.

Singletary faces charges of home invasion robbery with a firearm, aggravated assault, grand theft, criminal mischief, fleeing or attempting to elude law enforcement and violation of probation.
