WINTER SPRINGS, Fla. – Winter Springs commissioners have voted to raise assessment fees in Tuscawilla.
The controversial fee hike was passed late Tuesday in a 4-1 vote following a couple hours of heated debate.
The original proposal was to double the assessment cap to $255. While the cap was not doubled Tuesday, it was raised to $220 while the actual assessment fee was set to $160, up from $128.

Commissioners otherwise decided to increase the maximum annual Oak Forest Assessment from $63 to $84.03 and to leave the Tax Year 2025 rate unchanged at $60, the city said.
The fees are expected to pay for things like streetlights, landscaping and repairs to the subdivision’s signature fountains that were struck by lightning.
