Boater found dead on Lake Harris, sparking investigation

LAKE COUNTY, Fla. – A boater was found dead on Lake Harris late last week, according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.

In a release, FWC officials said that the body was discovered on Friday after law enforcement received reports about an “unoccupied vessel in gear” out on the lake.

A search of the area ended later that evening after the boater’s body was recovered, FWC officials added.

“FWC would like to extend condolences to the victim’s family during this difficult time,” the release reads. “This is an active investigation.”

No additional information has been provided at this time, including the boater’s identity and cause of death.
