Students forced to evacuate as fire breaks out at Ocala middle school

Fire reported shortly after 11:40 a.m., fire officials said

OCALA, Fla. – First responders were called to Fort King Middle School on Wednesday morning after a fire broke out inside, according to Ocala Fire Rescue.

In a release, fire officials said that school staff quickly evacuated students as first responders headed to the school around 11:40 a.m.

“During the evacuation process, one student fell and was subsequently transported to the hospital for evaluation,” the release reads. “Fortunately, no injuries resulted from the fire.”

Upon arrival, firefighters were taken to a bathroom in the hallway where the fire had already been extinguished before their arrival, fire officials said.

Now, the cause of the fire is under investigation. No additional information has been provided at this time.
