Shooting on Fruitland Park road injures driver, police seeking information on suspect vehicle

Incident reported in area of U.S. Highway 27/441 and Register Road

FRUITLAND PARK, Fla. – The Fruitland Park Police Department is looking for information related to a shooting that injured the driver of a vehicle on Friday evening, according to a news release.

Police said that they responded to the area of U.S. Highway 27/441 and Register Road around 10:40 p.m. after reports of a shooting.

According to the release, officers determined that two vehicles were traveling north on U.S. 27/441 near South Register Road. The suspect’s vehicle – an unknown make and model – was in the far-left lane, while the victim’s vehicle, a 2012 black Mazda four-door, was in the middle lane.

Police said the occupants of the Mazda reported that “individuals in the suspect vehicle” fired several rounds at them without provocation. They did not know the suspects and could not describe the suspect vehicle.

Officers found multiple bullet holes along the left side of the victim’s vehicle, which was leaking fluid from the front.

The driver sustained a graze wound from one of the bullets and was taken to the hospital, treated, and later released, according to the release.

The investigation remains active.
