Golf cart driver sought in hit-and-run that damaged memorial in The Villages

Crash caused $1,500 in damage to memorial

LADY LAKE, Fla. – Police in Lady Lake need help to find a golf cart driver, they say, who hit a marble stone marker at a park memorial and then drove off.

The incident happened on Saturday, Sept. 20 at Veterans Memorial Park off Paige Place near Spanish Springs Town Square in The Villages.

Video released by the Town of Lady Lake shows the golf cart driving through a parking lot, going over one curb, then hitting the memorial and overturning.

People are seen helping the driver and putting the golf cart upright.

Police say the driver then left the memorial without reporting the incident.

The crash caused about $1,500 in damage to the memorial.
