NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. – A man was arrested Saturday after pointing a handgun at a group of juveniles on the Intracoastal Waterway, according to the New Smyrna Beach Police Department.
New Smyrna Beach police said the incident happened when a man operating a white Key West boat became angry after the juveniles created a wake near his vessel. Witnesses told police the man aimed a handgun at them and shouted threats, saying he would shoot them.
Several juveniles confirmed the suspect pointed the weapon in their direction while making the verbal threats. After the confrontation, the man was seen trailering his boat at the North Causeway Boat Ramp.
According to the release, officers and deputes from the Volusia Sheriff’s Office located the suspect’s vehicle—a white Nissan Frontier towing a white Key West boat— at a residence on Florida Avenue.

Police said the suspect, identified as 43-year-old Christopher Evensen, was arrested.
He faces charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and improper exhibition of a dangerous weapon.
Evensen was taken to the Volusia County Branch Jail, police said.
