Orlando Pride beat Portland Thorns

Pride take victory after Portland player scores on own goal

The Orlando Pride played to a 1-0 victory against the Portland Thorns on Friday evening after a Thorns player scored on her own goal.

Kickoff started around 8 p.m., though the first half was mainly marked by a yellow card to Portland striker Pietra Tordin.

Things heated up in the second half, though, with several more yellow cards given to both teams, as well as multiple players swapped out.

The game stayed at an even keel of 0-0, though, forcing the match into overtime.

However, Portland midfielder Mallie McKenzie ultimately scored on her own team’s goal, ending the matchup in the Pride’s favor.

Now, the Pride are scheduled to go head-to-head with Pachuca in the CONCACAF W Champions Cup on Wednesday, Oct. 15, at 8:15 p.m.
