OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. – An 81-year-old man was killed Thursday in Osceola County when a propane tank exploded while he was drilling a hole in it, sheriff’s officials said.
The fatal explosion happened around 6:20 p.m. in the 1800 block of Orange Vista Boulevard.
The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were called to a shed fire and met with firefighters who were extinguishing the blaze.
The body of Miguel Guzman was then located in the shed, officials said.
According to the sheriff’s office, video from a camera that faced the backyard showed Guzman sitting in the doorway of the shed with a drill and a propane tank. As he attempted to drill a hole into the tank, it exploded and Guzman was thrown into the shed, deputies said.

The shed then became engulfed in flames.
The shed fire was not connected to a nearby scrapyard that forced U.S. 17-92 to shut down.
