VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. – An 11-year-old student was arrested on Monday after she wrote a “kill list” at her desk, according to the Volusia Sheriff’s Office.
In a release, deputies said staff at Riverview Learning Center notified a deputy after the student made and announced the list, which contained four names.
“She said she was just playing,” the release reads.
The girl now faces charges of making a written threat to kill and violation of probation.
A similar incident happened last month with an 11-year-old student at Southwestern Middle School, who reportedly wrote a kill list on his desk because he was “angry and having a bad day,” the VSO noted.

And yet another 11-year-old was taken into custody around one year ago after Sheriff Mike Chitwood said the child threatened to shoot up either Creekside Middle School or Silver Sands Middle School in Port Orange.
“He had a written list of names and targets,” Chitwood wrote at the time. “He says it was all a joke.”
Back then, the incident came amid a spike of similar school threats across Central Florida.
