DELAND, Fla. – After a man and a woman were found dead over the weekend at a DeLand home, police have now declared the incident was a murder-suicide.

In a release, police said that Scott Waldron, 49, and his wife, Padmini Waldron, 47, were found dead at a home along Cape Cod Road on Saturday morning.

“In this incident, it has been concluded that Scott Waldron shot and killed his wife, Padmini Waldron, and then took his own life,” the release reads. “The Waldrons had been married 12 years.”

Police also identified Scott Waldron as a probation officer, adding that he used his duty weapon in the shooting.

Meanwhile, News 6 discovered that Padmini Waldron was the Director of the Office of Honors Research at the University of Central Florida’s Burnett Honors College.

News 6 reached out to the college on Tuesday, though officials wouldn’t provide details at that time.

Neighbors told News 6 that the Waldrons had lived in the area for less than a year, and they’d had limited interaction with the couple. Several residents recalled seeing Padmini Waldron handing out Halloween candy in the neighborhood.

However, no additional information about the case has been provided, including the motive for the shooting.
