KISSIMMEE, Fla. – The Kissimmee Police Department has launched a new online reporting system that allows people to report certain non-emergency incidents digitally without needing an officer to respond in person.
According to Kissimmee police Chief Charles Broadway, the system is designed for incidents that do not involve weapons, threats, or require evidence collection.
“It allows our citizens and residents to report minor crimes online and keeps our officers on the streets for more serious crimes, but also expedite the process and, again, allow them to report these crimes online, get a case number and still receive exceptional service from our personnel,” he said.

The online portal lets users submit reports for theft of property, lost property, vandalism or criminal mischief, theft from a vehicle, harassing communications, and identity theft or fraud.
Kissimmee is not alone in adopting technology to improve law enforcement services. The Volusia Sheriff’s Office, for example, recently began using an AI dispatcher to handle non-emergency calls, freeing human dispatchers to focus on true emergencies. Sheriff Mike Chitwood told News 6 anchor Ginger Gadsden that the AI system has improved efficiency and workflow in the 911 call center.

Chief Broadway emphasized that KPD will continue to evolve as necessary.
“That’s the way the future. As technology improves, we’ll continue to improve with technology,” he said. “We’ll have sergeants and lieutenants who will review their reports, but again, it gives them time to continue focusing on other things, as well. So, it’s a win-win for everyone.”
Each online report is reviewed by KPD and the person filing it receives a copy. Users can also check the status of their report on the website.
