MARION COUNTY, Fla. – Marion County firefighters put out a burning house Saturday afternoon in Citra.
Photos shared to social media by Marion County Fire Rescue show firefighters getting water on the charred remains of a house in the 3100 block of NE 155th Place, where crews responded around 4:43 p.m. after multiple 911 callers reported the home and a storage building were on fire.
Firefighters from Sparr Station #19 got there before 5 p.m. — with others from Fort McCoy Station #7, Anthony Station #1, and Villages Station #10 arriving subsequently — quickly deploying hose lines and working to extinguish the fire, according to the post.
“A large propane tank was self venting while the fire was spreading to a vehicle,” the post states. ”Firefighters protected the exposed structures and vehicle."
The fire was deemed under control by 5:06 p.m. and no injuries were reported to firefighters or civilians on scene, the agency said, adding the American Red Cross was called to assist the family of two.
The cause and origin of the fire were still under investigation at the time of this report.
