2 arrested in attempted Deltona home invasion that ended with gunfire

DELTONA, Fla. – Deputies in Volusia County say they’ve arrested two 18-year-olds in connection with an attempted home invasion last week that led to shots fired.

Jamar Battle and James Cropper Jr. were arrested in Orlando, with the help of the Orlando Police Gang Task Force.

The Volusia Sheriff’s office says Battle and Cropper were part of a group of four men who tried to break into a home on Wainwright Street in Deltona on Nov. 19 at around 4 a.m.

A doorbell camera recorded the suspects trying to force their way in, and when they were unable, the group can be seen opening fire at the house and then driving away.

No one was hurt.

Deputies spotted the suspects on I-4 and briefly pursued them into Orange County, but eventually lost sight of the vehicle.

The sheriff’s office says the investigation is still ongoing.
