SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. – Seminole County Public Schools is inviting the community to celebrate the Lake Mary High School’s first-ever FHSAA Class 7A state football championship.

The school is hosting a RamNaton State Championship Celebration on Wednesday.

Food trucks will be on site at Lake Mary’s football stadium and guests are welcome to bring blankets or chairs to use on the turf field.

The championship game was decided on the final play, when Lake Mary connected on a dramatic Hail Mary touchdown pass to tie the game before kicking the extra point to secure the one-point victory.

Before Wednesday’s celebration, players reflected on their victory as they cleaned out their lockers for the final time.

Quarterback Noah Grubbs said the final play was a true team effort and a reflection of the team’s determination.

“I was just telling myself, give it a chance. You never know what could happen,” Grubbs said. “They came through in clutch, and they made it.”

The ball was tipped near the goal line by Vero Beach. Wide receiver Barrett Schulz caught the ball but was stopped short, and his teammate Tavarius Brundidge, Jr., stripped the ball out of his hands and took it into the end zone.

“I took the lateral, and I saw the man and was like, ‘One man can’t stop me. I’m (going) to get this touchdown.’”

Along with the extra point in poor conditions, the plays made history for the first-time state champs.

Every player has been soaking in the tremendous support from the community.

“Through thick and thin, (the community) stuck it out with us, and that’s what we appreciate all the time, and all of us on the team really love that,” Grubbs said.

The RamNation State Championship Celebration is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Wednesday with a presentation ceremony at 6:30 p.m.
