2nd arrest made in Sanford shooting that killed 1, injured another

SANFORD, Fla. – A second arrest was made in the November shooting that killed one person and injured another in Sanford, according to police.

Damarious Ditrell Cofield, 31, was taken into custody Wednesday.

This arrest comes nearly two weeks after the arrest of Moses Mitchell, 30, who police say was also involved in the shooting death of 22-year-old La-Don Ja Quan Williams.

The shooting happened in the area of 14th Street and Mangoustine Avenue.

Sanford police had said Mitchell was “one of the suspects” involved in the shooting before announcing the second arrest.

Cofield faces a charge of first-degree premeditated murder.

An investigation is ongoing.
