Deputies flood Volusia County neighborhood after rash of car burglaries

ORMOND BEACH, Fla. – A Georgia man has finally been arrested following a recent rash of vehicle burglaries in Volusia County, according to the sheriff’s office.

In a release on Monday, the sheriff’s office announced that residents around Ormond Beach have been suffering from these burglaries over the previous few days.

“Multiple guns, cash and laptops have been stolen,” the release reads. “The same suspect has been seen on multiple surveillance cameras.”

But on Monday, a resident called the sheriff’s office about a suspect trying to break into a car, investigators said.

As a result, deputies said they flooded the area and managed to catch 27-year-old Quan E. Fussell.

“He resisted and tried to reach for his waistband, where deputies found a loaded revolver,” the release continues. “He was taken into custody safely.”

According to the sheriff’s office, two stolen handguns, ammunition, victim IDs and checkbooks were found in Fussell’s motel room, along with hundreds of dollars in cash.

Now, Fussell faces 22 counts of armed vehicle burglary, four counts of grand theft of a firearm, seven counts of petit theft, and charges of grand theft, battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting an officer with violence, and controlled substance. He is held on no bond.
