Bomb threat prompts lockdown at Lake Minneola High School

Lockdown lifted after investigation

LAKE COUNTY, Fla. – A lockdown at Lake Minneola High School prompted by a bomb threat was lifted after law enforcement canvassed the campus, according to Lake County Schools.

The district said an anonymous caller made the threat against the school Monday morning, but there was “no reason to believe this is a credible threat.”

The lockdown at the high school was lifted around 1:45 p.m.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office said deputies canvassed the area at the school and access to the campus was “temporarily restricted” during the investigation.

Out of an abundance of caution, Grassy Lake Elementary, Minneola Charter School and Pinecrest Lakes Academy were also under lockdown, the district said. Around noon, the lockdown was lifted at those schools.

Lake County Schools released the below statement about the incident:

The lockdown at Lake Minneola High School has been lifted. No changes have been made to the afternoon schedule of activities on campus. Students will be dismissed at the regular time. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we worked closely with law enforcement today to keep our students and staff safe.

Last week, Lake Brantley High School and Forest City Elementary in Seminole County were under a Code Red due to a possible threat. Police later called the tip a “hoax.”
