ORLANDO, Fla. – A widespread outage appears to be affecting thousands of Verizon customers on Wednesday, according to the website Downdetector. The website says it tracks disruptions for “internet, social media, web hosting platforms, banks, games, entertainment, and more” around the globe.
The site shows that around 180,000 people have reported an outage on the site as of 2 p.m.

Users report getting an “SOS” message on their phone with the inability to make or receive phone calls.
According to Downdetector, most reported locations reporting outages included New York City, Miami, Atlanta, Dallas, Charlotte, Houston and Philadelphia.
Verizon posted the following message on its X account:
“We are aware of an issue impacting wireless voice and data services for some customers. Our engineers are engaged and are working to identify and solve the issue quickly. We understand how important reliable connectivity is and apologize for the inconvenience.”
