No injuries after house fire in Winter Garden; Red Cross assisting 2, officials say

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – Winter Haven firefighters reported no injuries after extinguishing a burning home early Saturday.

Crews responded around 1 a.m. to the home on Prestwick Place to find active flames, as well as that the man and woman living there had already safely exited the burning structure, the Winter Haven Police Department said in a statement.

The firefighters started their attack immediately, doing so from the ground and with aerial operations until the fire was under control, the statement reads.

Crews continued to battle hotspots within the home, at times finding more active flames within void spaces, police said.

The fire was contained within the structure and no other homes were impacted, according to the statement. The Red Cross was assisting the residents at last check, the statement reads.

The cause of the fire was still said to be under investigation at the time of the report.
