MARION COUNTY, Fla. – A Silver Alert has been issued for a 90-year-old man reported missing out of Marion County, according to the sheriff’s office.

Richard Payne encountered Georgia law enforcement on Thursday and told them he was traveling to Michigan, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release. Earlier, Payne had left TimberRidge ER on SW Highway 200 intending to go home — driving a black 2017 Ford Escape with Florida tag Z435RZ — but he never arrived, the release states.

Payne is 5 feet, 5 inches tall, of unknown weight and bald with brown eyes, the sheriff’s office said, adding there’s concern for his ability to travel safely due to an Alzheimer’s diagnosis.

Anyone who sees Payne or who has knowledge of his whereabouts is urged to call 911 immediately.
